sublime and ridiculous

Brices Creek was beautifully edged with ice again this morning.

Then, this afternoon, I spent 2 hours sitting in the Social Security Administration center waiting for my turn to get a replacement card -- required for an NC driver's license -- while Tim took care of some banking stuff. How did we get these sorts of things done when we were working 6, 8, 10 hours every weekday?

After that, we returned to Branch's furniture outlet, where we'd spotted a rug that would work for our dining room. Wouldn't you know, a woman had claimed it literally 1 minute before we arrived!  Since she was buying it on a trial basis (she'd arranged for the option of returning it if she didn't like how it looked in her home), she kindly offered to let us have it. But we declined, taking our chances on whether she'd actually like it or not.  There are other rugs in the universe. In the parking lot, we complimented her on her good taste, which extended from decor to "de car": -- she was climbing into a forest-green Ford F150 almost identical to ours.
