Last weekend, really enjoyed the Beaufort Wine and Food Weekend. (Potential freelance work for North Carolina Wine Press, a new magazine?; the editor was distributing the first issue there.)
Cleaned up the boat in preparation for launch, but the direction of the wind has made the creek low. (We need winds off the Sound to push water upstream into Brices Creek for greater depth at our back yard ramp.)
Hiked the Island Creek Trail of the Croatan National Forest today in beautiful weather. Then played 3 sets of tennis. (Stiff!)
Tonight went to a talk at the library about James City, the section of New Bern we're closest to, here in Township 7. (During the Civil War and up to the 1890s, it was a community first for escaped slaves under the banner of the Union Army, then for freed slaves, that became a thriving and influential social and political center for African-Americans.)
Now, after a Harris Teeter ice cream sandwich, it's time to call it a day (after giving Maggie her bedtime snack, too).
